What is CCC?

After the USA, China is the world’s largest importer and by far the largest buyer of German goods in Asia. China has now become one of the most important sales markets worldwide for numerous industries such as mechanical engineering, the automotive industry or the chemical industry. Uniform standards and rules have replaced the previous large number of certificates and licenses.

The Chinese compulsory certification system “China Compulsory Certification”, abbreviated CCC or 3C, serves to standardise quality. This CCC system entered into force on May 1, 2002. It applies to imported goods as well as to Chinese products and is comparable with the European CE system. The CCC regulations are subject to ongoing change and can lead to customs problems, loss of goods, fines or legal proceedings in the event of violations.
