How long does the certification process take?
The duration of a certification process depends on various factors, such as product tests and the factory audit. The standard duration is 3-4 months, but in individual cases it can also take considerably longer.
Why can certification fail?
In most cases, the information in the application forms does not correspond to the actual product. However, this can easily be avoided by careful preparation and clear product descriptions. Another reason are poor or defective test products due to inadequate quality controls in the factory.
How much does a certification cost?
Since the costs depend greatly on the product and the location of the factory (product test and factory audit), a generalised answer cannot be provided for this question. In order to be able to submit a reliable offer, we need the corresponding framework data. Just get in touch with us.
How long is my certificate valid?
The certificate becomes invalid after 5 years. You will then receive a new version. However, regular follow-up audits on an annual basis are a prerequisite for maintaining validity. See follow-up audit.
Do I also need a CCC certificate if I only want to export components?
That depends. Components require a CCC certificate if the device itself is subject to CCC requirements. Conversely, components are not subject to certification if they are installed in devices not subject to certification.
However, it is often advisable to certify components individually in order to ensure a good supply of spare parts later on, despite the lack of certification requirements.
Do I still need a CCC factory audit if I am ISO/TS16949 certified?
Yes. Factory audits are also required if an ISO/TS certificate is available.
What are the synergy effects of CCC certification?
The synergy effects should not be underestimated and you should therefore be careful to plan and organise the certification well. For instance, it should be possible to visit all factories with a single certification tour to avoid unnecessary costs.
Do product tests have to be carried out in China?
Yes, because so far only test laboratories in China have been approved for CCC product tests.
Do I need other certifications besides the CCC certification?
Usually not, unless there are additional certification requirements, e.g. for medical products or telecommunications products.
Do I also need CCC certification for a one-time delivery to China?
Yes. In principle, certification is required for products requiring certification, irrespective of the frequency of delivery.
Will the certification process endanger intellectual property rights?
No. On the one hand you can minimise the disclosure of know-how with good preparation, and on the other hand the “non-disclosure” contract is binding for the Chinese authorities.
